About Momentum
Odyssey Momentum is a 49-hour online event solving complex 21st century challenges. During the event, an immersive experience is combined with gamification and new meeting formats. Odyssey Momentum is the premiere of this new Massive online collaboration engine: a completely new virtual world in which connections, collaborations and valuable solutions are built.

The fourth edition of the Odyssey Hackathon was scheduled to take place from April 3-5, 2020 in Groningen, the Netherlands. After two postponements due to Covid-19, it became clear that the 2020 event could only continue if it took place online. It had to be an online event for 48 hours in which a self-made impressive virtual platform was the place to be to work on the challenges, provided by a large number of organizations and companies. The challenge: to devise and realize an online platform in a short period of time with the same energy and collaboration as the physical event.

- Team spaces with their own digital whiteboards
- Enabling "spontaneous" encounters

“In addition to innovative results, the physical event provides incredible energy. Something that is not easy to realize online. By saying goodbye to the physical event and embracing the potential of the internet, however, completely new possibilities are created to work together and create added value. In my opinion, this new online experience will be even more catchy than the physical event.”
The launch
The result is a totally different concept of online collaboration. A cross between the game world and the world of business software. Complex challenges were submitted by companies, governments and non-profit organizations from the US, France, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands, including: Vattenfall, Enexis, KLM Cargo, the Dutch National Police, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the International Council for Environmental Law, E.On, Engie, VMware, UMCG and the Dutch Ministry of Defense. During Momentum, these complex problems were solved through large-scale collaboration and a multi-stakeholder approach.
That's exactly what Odyssey brings together in the Momentum platform.
